Born in January 1959, Mr. Yawer Sayeed, a dual citizen of Bangladesh and Australia is the founder Managing Director & CEO of Asset & Investment Management Services of Bangladesh Limited (AIMS of Bangladesh), the first approved asset management company in Bangladesh under private initiative. He was a Staff Consultant and Performance Auditor for Operation Evaluation Missions of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for the Finance Sector and also acted as the Consultative Group Coordinator of the Bank for the Finance, Industry & Trade Sectors in Bangladesh. He has also been providing consultancy and research services to various other multilateral agencies like the World Bank, International Finance Corporation (IFC), Organization of Economic Cooperation & Development (OECD), Department for International Development (DFID) of UK, CARE International, Asia Foundation and others.
Mr. Sayeed is a Bachelor with Honors in International Relations with Public Administration and Economics and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) of Dhaka University. He also obtained Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance & Investment from the Securities Institute of Australia (SIA), Sydney and is an Associate of the Institute, incorporating the Australian Society of Security Analysts. Mr. Sayeed has over thirty-five years of diverse hands on experience in the financial services sector, including banking, insurance and investments, at home and abroad.
In steering AIMS in 1999, Mr. Sayeed pioneered the successful launching of the first privately managed mutual fund in independent Bangladesh, AIMS First Guaranteed Mutual Fund, under the sponsorship of eight leading financial institutions of the country. AIMS is also the Manager of the second fund Grameen Mutual Fund One under the sponsorship of the internationally reputed Grameen Bank founded by Nobel laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus.
An ardent corporate governance activist, he is well known in the industry circle for his regular commentaries in leading national dailies, journals, television and wire services on economic, capital markets and governance issues. He also teaches in MBA program at the private universities and conducts training program at different institutes.
Mr. Sayeed attended various international investment and capital market related conferences in Europe, Asia and Australia, including the annual OECD Asian Corporate Governance Roundtables, Asia Oceania Regional Investment Managers' Meets, Asian Pension Fund Roundtables etc. He has a rare distinction of being featured and his feats acknowledged on international journals, including Bloomberg and other international dailies and journals.
Pursuant to Bangladesh Bank circular letter no. DFIM 13/2011, dated; 02-08-2011, National Finance Limited has formed a "Complaint Cell" and nominated the following persons at Head office for smooth resolve of the complaint of the customers.
